Phoenix

For the past few years, my work hasn’t required me to travel a whole lot. For a while, I was traveling once a month and was gone 2 nights each time. This was really hard on me being away from the family, so I’m so glad it’s decreased due to the economic conditions and my company’s need to watch spending.

A few weeks ago, however, I traveled to Phoenix and was gone for 4 days and 3 nights. It was definitely different being away from the family for that long, but Randy did a great job holding down the fort, getting them to school, keeping the house cleaned, feeding them, making sure they slept, etc, etc. It’s not easy for 1 parent to do what 2 usually does! He was so adventurous, though, he even took them to Kroger one evening to get supplies to make a yummy fruit salad for them all to enjoy. Kudos to my amazing hubby!

I can’t say I didn’t enjoy a break from the snow and the brief exposure to sunny, 70 degree weather.

It was a good distraction for being away from home. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my coworkers, which not everyone can say. They’re a great group of people who I call friends too.

We stayed near the airport, for convenience’ sake, since all of us came from various areas of the country. We navigated the light rail system and ventured to the Mill Avenue District, which is a cute college area off the ASU campus. We ate at two fabulous restaurants, Monti's and La Bocca which we really enjoyed. The scenery was also gorgeous, as you can see from these few pictures I took.

Overall, it was a great trip, but I was so glad to see the jet waiting to take us home and these three sad faces waiting for their momma and wife!
